Tech Center Tuesday is here! Today we are featuring our Phlebotomy Pathway! Did you know our students can graduate GCHS as a fully certified Phlebotomy Technician?! This pathway is taught by two of our Health Science instructors, Mrs. Doriska Austin and Mrs. Misti Moberly.
The pathway prepares students to draw blood samples from patients using a variety of intrusive procedures. Students can obtain a certification from the National HealthCareer Association(NHA) by passing the required exam and successfully drawing blood from patients by completing 30 venipunctures and 10 fingersticks. Our high school seniors can directly enter the healthcare workforce after receiving this certification! #techcentertuesday #atcproud #gcsproud

Recently, the statewide scores were released for the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA). This year, the state has categorized progress status levels as very high (blue), high (green), medium (yellow), very low (orange) and low (red).
Garrard County Schools were collectively on pace with the state averages, with all three levels having an overall rating of yellow. Our district has many content areas that are "at or above" the state averages, and we are approaching our pre-pandemic levels. This year will serve as a baseline for our data, our schools are excited about the growth we expect to see in the next few years.

Did you know the Garrard County ATC offers a Residential Carpenter Assistant pathway and a Commercial Carpentry Skilled Trades Pre-Apprenticeship pathway for students? Classes offered include: Introduction to Construction Technology, Floor and Wall Framing, Ceiling and Roof Framing, and Site Layout and Foundations.
Students also have the opportunity to get an industry recognized certification from the National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER) Carpentry Technician or the Carpentry Skilled Trades Pre-Apprenticeship TRACK certification and obtain the OSHA 10 Safety Card.
Our instructor, Mr. Martin, has TWENTY-TWO years experience in the construction of custom homes and has been teaching here at the ATC since 2019.
Our GCHS JAG Program is always looking for ways to support our community. Today, our members concluded their Candy Drive for our local Rehabilitation and skilled Nursing Center- Landmark of Lancaster. They collected numerous bags of candy for the residents to pass out at their Trick-or-Treat event this week. GCHS Seniors Ian Alcorn, and Austin Adams delivered the candy to Landmark today!
