GCS Students and Families: On December 16, 2021, the Garrard County School Board updated the district COVID-19 plan. The full plan is available for review on the district's website. The primary change to the plan was to allow parents, students, and staff the ability to decide if they would wear a mask. As we return to classes, parents, students, and staff can opt to wear a mask or not to wear a mask. This option does not extend to buses or other district transportation. A federal mandate remains in place for masking on buses and other district transportation. Please note there are no changes to other protocols or expectations. Parents & guardians should continue to assess students prior to sending or bringing them to school. Students who are sick should remain home. Students who have been tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting a result should not attend school until a negative result has been received.

Feature Friday is here! Today we are spotlighting Mrs. Tabitha Anderson, who is new to the GC district this year!

The Kindergarteners at PLE had fun in Mrs. McG's music class this week- writing their own songs, using buttons for short sounds, and straws for long sounds. Then they got to play their classmates songs using triangles for the long sounds, and wood blocks for the short sounds!

Friendly Reminder! NO School for students November 24th-26th.

Please share this reminder to our students and families!
We are so encouraged to see the amount of items already donated at each school to benefit the Garrard Food Pantry! If you have not yet donated and would like to, there is still time! Each school has a designated employee and room number where items can be collected. We will be collecting items until this Friday, November 19th.
Thank you for supporting our community!

The staff members of GCS are thankful and grateful for all of our students and families that make our school district great!

Today we are celebrating Ms. Liz Erwin, Principal at Paint Lick Elementary. Ms. Erwin is in her 5th year as Principal of PLE. Read about why she loves being a GC Principal! Thanks for all you do for the students of GC, Ms. Erwin!

Paint Lick Elementary is an extraordinary place. Our school enjoys a rich tradition of excellence that our students, staff, parents, and community members are proud of. Our success is evident in our recognitions as a Distinguished school and a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, but also clear the minute one enters the building. The warm and nurturing environment we cultivate brings to mind words like “family” and “home.” I am honored to join the Paint Lick family as principal and am so happy to be home.

Garrard County School System serves approximately 2500 students in Pre-K through twelfth grade. The three elementary schools are high-performing institutions preparing our students in grades Pre-K through five to enter middle school with strong basic skills and a broad knowledge of the state and national standards in core academic areas.
