As the week of November 6th-10th unfolded, Garrard County Schools dedicated special events to honor and express gratitude to our nation's heroes. Each school in the district orchestrated unique Veterans Day celebrations, creating memorable experiences for both students and honored Veterans.
Camp Dick Robinson Elementary School
At Camp Dick Robinson, the day began with a heartwarming Veterans Day breakfast, where the school community came together to express appreciation for the brave Veterans who have served the country. Following the breakfast, a special parade took place, with CDR students lining the hallways, waving flags, and cheering to convey heartfelt thanks for the Veterans' service.
Lancaster Elementary School
Lancaster Elementary hosted a Veterans Day breakfast, extending gratitude to Veterans for their selfless service. Prior to the breakfast, fifth-grade students took the stage to share insights about the significance of Veterans Day, expressing their appreciation and understanding for the sacrifices made by servicemen and women.
Paint Lick Elementary School
Mrs. Erin Schneider, School Nurse at Paint Lick Elementary, along with her husband Geoffrey, both Navy veterans, visited PLE to share the significance of Veterans Day with students. Their personal stories and experiences during active service enriched the students' understanding and provided a unique perspective on the importance of honoring our Veterans.
Garrard County High School
GCHS welcomed Sergeant First Class Chris Steffen, a Garrard Alum, to share his military journey with the student body. Students listened attentively as Sergeant Steffen reflected on the pivotal moments that led him to serve and the profound impact it had on his life. The school expressed immense gratitude to all Veterans for their service.
Garrard Middle School (GMS) and Garrard County High School Collaboration: The highlight of the week was the collaborative Veterans Day Program hosted at Garrard Middle School. The GMS Student Council joined forces with the GCHS Student Council and the JROTC program to create a program that paid tribute to our Veterans. The event featured outstanding performances by the GMS Band and Choir. Before the ceremony, the Culinary classes from both GMS and GCHS worked together to prepare a delicious breakfast for the honored guests. The morning was a powerful expression of gratitude and respect for those who have served and continue to serve our nation.
