GC PARENTS AND FAMILIES: Garrard County Schools Online Registration is now open! The Online Registration process, completed through Parent Portal, will allow you fill out the necessary back-to-school paperwork online. Online Registration does not replace our Back-to-School Nights, but will greatly reduce the amount of paperwork needed to be completed on those nights. There will be detailed directions posted on our page to help you with the process. There will be separate directions for parent/families of existing GC students and new-to-the-district students. Parents of existing GC students will need access to your Parent Portal account to complete this online registration process. If you have any questions, please contact your school.
PARENTS AND GUARDIANS: Don't forget to activate your parent portal accounts! Parents/Guardians will need an active parent portal account starting July 1st, 2022 to register students for the upcoming school year- this will help replace the numerous hard copies parents/guardians fill out on back to school nights. If you do not have an active parent portal account, please visit your student’s school to set up your account. Your school will provide your user specific activation key. If you have multiple students in the district- setting up your account at one school will include all of your students. You will need to bring a valid ID to set up your account. Garrard County High School would like to welcome our new Math Teacher, Mr. Ben Davis!
Mr. Davis received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky in 2014 and received his Master's in teaching from the University of the Cumberland's in 2020. Ben spent his first three years teaching 6th Grade Math at Garrard Middle School where he was also an Assistant Baseball coach. Ben is a huge sports fan and enjoys going to all of the Cincinnati Bengals' home games. Ben says, "I can't wait to get started at the high school and go Golden Lions!"

Garrard County High School would like to welcome our new Math Teacher, Ms. Cassandra Weckerly!
Ms. Weckerly is a graduate of Berea College where she earned a degree in Mathematics and Communication. Currently she is working on completing her Masters of Arts in Teaching with the University of the Cumberlands. Ms. Weckerly has worked with students in different math classes and levels through AmeriCorps and been a substitute teacher since 2018. Ms. Weckerly is excited to become a part of the Garrard County High School faculty and help prepare students to be successful.
Ms. Weckerly grew up in Nashville TN where she got to develop a love of music. She plays bass guitar, guitar, piano, and dabbles with the harmonica. One of her favorite things to do is play happy birthday on the harmonica for students. She also enjoys hiking with her dog Cocoa, swimming, learning languages such as Spanish and German, and reading.

Mr. Sergent was born and raised in Harlan County to Cheryl Sergent, a school teacher, and Darrell Sergent, also a school teacher. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and he is certified in Secondary Physics and Secondary Earth Science. He currently resides in Richmond, Kentucky with his wife, Ashley, and daughter, Lennox.
Garrard County High School would like to welcome our new Spanish Teacher, Ms. Jacqueline Adams!
Ms. Adams is a graduate of Garrard County High School, Class of 2003. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in May of 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish. She will be continuing her education this fall in the Master of Arts in Teaching program. She has worked in nearly all of Garrard County schools as a substitute teacher. Most recently, she was able to work with Gear Up at GCHS. Ms. Adams said, " I loved my time at GCHS, I felt welcomed and appreciated."
Ms. Adams believes in providing a positive attitude and lots of encouragement to our youth. Ms. Adams says, "I am excited to work at Garrard County High School. I have had a passion for learning languages since I first learned Spanish in elementary school. By the seventh grade I knew someday I would teach a foreign language. I myself was taught Spanish, French and American Sign Language. I think that everyone should be able to communicate with each other to better understand one another."
Ms. Jacqueline Adams grew up in Lexington and moved to Garrard in the seventh grade. She has two children, a son and a daughter. She says, "I love being able to watch my children grow and learn." Some of Ms. Adam's favorite things are cooking, playing volleyball, spending time with family and friends and watching sports. Ms. Adams says, "I am very happy that my family and I get to be apart of such a wonderful community!"

Chris Cook received his Bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 2016 and his Master's degree in Learning and Behavior Disorders from the University of the Cumberlands in 2020. He began teaching Special Education at Lincoln County Middle School in 2018 and also served as the Head Football Coach. Mr. Cook is an avid sports fan and likes to spend his spare time at UK football games, going to the lake with his wife, Holly, and spending time with their two dogs, Barkley and Josie. Mr. Cook says, "I am extremely excited about the opportunity to begin working at Garrard County Schools!"

Garrard County High School would like to welcome our new Social Studies Teacher, Mr. Adam Miller!
Mr. Miller is a graduate of Morehead State University as well as the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate. After practicing law for almost 20 years, Mr. Miller received his Masters in education from the University of the Cumberlands and has been teaching full time for the last 3 years. Mr. Miller is from Danville but has lived and calls Garrard County his home for the last 10 years and is very excited to join the faculty here at Garrard County High School.
In his off time Mr. Miller likes traveling with his wife, hiking, fishing and reading about history and sports. Mr. Miller also for the last 27 years has served as a coach, clinician and adjudicator to various High School Band and Guard programs throughout the state, serving regularly in this capacity as an instructor and judge for KMEA, Tristate Marching Arts and is a certified judge with the Judges Academy and Winterguard International.

Mr. Joshua Shaddox is a native of the Cascade Mountains in Washington state. As a military veteran, he has literally been around the world. After 20 years in the US Army serving in multiple teaching and training roles, Mr. Shaddox and his wife Beverly settled in Kentucky. He holds several degrees, including Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History. Mr. Shaddox spent the last 2 years working in Lincoln County but is excited about this upcoming role at Garrard County High School. Passionate about history, Mr. Shaddox enjoys traveling, researching, and writing historical fiction.

Meet Tricia Jackson, our APRN:
Tricia Jackson graduated with honors from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has been practicing as a Family Health Nurse Practitioner for four years. Previously, Jackson was an oncology certified nurse at University of Kentucky for twelve years.
Tricia Jackson has been a Garrard County resident since 2002 and says, "I am honored to be able to help my fellow Garrard county residents stay healthy and recover from illness. I look forward to making a positive impact on members of this community."
An exciting new opportunity for Garrard County Area Technology Center thanks to the Career and Technical Education Grant funded by the Kentucky Department of Education.
Garrard County was the first school district to apply, the first district to receive the grant, and will be the first district to pilot!
The grant will allow the ATC to hire a Career and Technical Special Education Outreach Coordinator to support students receiving special education services within career and technical education!
