Veterans Day

Garrard County Schools proudly celebrated Veterans Day across the district with programs and events to honor the service and sacrifices of our nation’s heroes. Each school demonstrated its appreciation in unique and meaningful ways, making the day special for veterans, students, and staff alike.

At Camp Dick Robinson, Lancaster Elementary, and Paint Lick Elementary, veterans were invited to a special breakfast shared with their students. Lancaster Elementary’s 5th graders gave speeches, expressing their gratitude to the veterans for their service. Following breakfast, PLE and CDR hosted parades where veterans and their families were celebrated by students lining the halls, waving flags, and sharing cheers of appreciation.

Garrard County High School extended a special invitation to veteran alumni, welcoming SGM Brian Mangum (Class of 2000) as the guest speaker. SGM Mangum shared his military experiences and the importance of service with the students. The event was organized by the school’s JROTC program, showcasing their leadership and dedication to honoring our veterans.

At Garrard Middle School, the JAG program collaborated with GCHS JROTC to host an impactful Veterans Day ceremony. The GMS Band and Choir added to the occasion with great performances, while students in the Family and Consumer Science (FCS) program prepared and served a delicious breakfast for attendees. The program’s guest speaker, Dr. Jerry Browning, GCHS alumnus and our School Board Chairman, shared his reflections on service and gratitude.

These district-wide celebrations embodied the spirit of Veterans Day, filled with gratitude and respect for the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes. Garrard County Schools extends its thanks to all veterans for their service and to everyone who helped make these events special.
