Garrard County Schools recently had the honor of hosting the KSBA Central Kentucky Regional Meeting, a distinguished gathering of school board members, superintendents, legislators, and school administrators from across the region. The event was especially significant for GCS, as Dr. Jerry Browning, the Garrard County School Board Chairman, also serves as the Chairman of the Central Kentucky Region.
Throughout the evening, guests had the unique opportunity to interact with the district's talented Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Art students, who showcased their impressive skills across various fields:
Art students created personalized stamps and a live painting that captivated attendees.
Business students demonstrated expert sticker printing techniques and shared their green screen technology knowledge.
Agriculture students engaged guests by creating floral boutonnieres, hosting a remote-controlled tractor pull, and teaching how to administer animal injections.
Family and Consumer Science students guided guests in determining seasonal colors and showcased their early childhood education expertise.
JROTC students led informative golf cart tours, offering guests an inside look at the district’s new facilities.
The success of the event was made possible through the collaboration and support of many in the GC community. Guests were warmly welcomed at the door by Garrard County Schools Elementary Leaders, and the evening began with delicious appetizers provided by Keys and Crows. Table arrangements were supplied by Country Road Flowers, and the centerpieces were created by the talented Garrard County High School Floral Design students.
In addition to the hands-on experiences, guests were treated to an array of musical performances. The Garrard Middle School Choir gave a great performance of "My Old Kentucky Home," while the Garrard County Jazz Band entertained the crowd throughout the evening. The meeting portion started with a performance of the Star-Spangled Banner by the Garrard County High School Band. A delicious three-course meal was prepared and served by the Garrard County High School Culinary Department.
Reflecting on the evening, Superintendent Dr. Kevin Stull shared, "The students were phenomenal. Watching guests arrive and seeing them start to smile as they were welcomed to Garrard County Schools was heart-warming. I had numerous guests talk to me about how great the experience was and how knowledgeable the students were. Our guests left having seen the absolute best of our county... our students!"
Board Member Ms. Mary Davis added, "Garrard County stood tall and proud because of the GCS staff and those who have been part of the GC family over the years. Their dedication has made a lasting impact on past, present, and future servant leaders and citizens locally, regionally, statewide, nationally, and internationally."
The evening was a true testament to the hard work and dedication of Garrard County students, staff, and the wider community, making the KSBA Central Kentucky Regional Meeting a memorable and successful event.
