To close out the last day of March- the March Madness Book Bracket Championship has come to an exciting end in the 5th grade hallway at LES! The winner of the Fiction division (Bad Dog, Marley!) defeated the winner of the Non-Fiction division (Greta- The Great Horned Owl) to become the 2022 Book of the Year!📚📖

Garrard County High School is excited to welcome a new student worker to their cafeteria staff! Jaden Naylor is a senior Culinary student at GCHS, and will now spend her mornings co-oping in the GCHS cafeteria!


Lancaster Elementary School is excited to welcome a new student worker to their cafeteria staff! Amanda Monzon Gomez is a senior Culinary student at GCHS, and will now spend her mornings co-oping in the LES cafeteria!


GCS is excited to welcome two new student workers! Caden Adams and Dylan Kidder are two senior Agricultural Education students at GCHS- they have recently completed pathway coursework which granted them eligibility for the Co-Op program. They will be assisting the GC Maintenance Department this spring!



Mrs. Smith's Principles of Health Science classes are all about wellness! This week they practiced Donning and Doffing PPE! #wellnesswednesday


The 3rd Grade students at Camp Dick Robinson have pen pals at Garrard County High School through the JAG classes!✍️✉️
Every other week, the students exchange letters with their pals. The high school students created a video introduction to pair with their first letter to the 3rd graders! The CDR students have been so excited to read their letters, watch their personalized video and respond to the high school students! They are looking forward to a visit from their GCHS pen pals in the spring!





This past weekend, several of our GMS students participated in the Odyssey of the Mind tournament. Odyssey of the Mind is a problem-solving competition- where students solve problems using cooperative and creative thinking skills and then are required to present their solution to the problem in a skit.
Six of our Gifted and Talented students participated and they placed 4th in the tournament- competing with teams across the state!

The GCHS Baseball team will be highlighted tomorrow at 12:00PM on the Scholastic Ball Report on WKYT. Coach Tee Ellis, and players Merrick Graham and Mason Reynolds will be interviewed.

GCHS Gear Up took a group of 9th and 10th grade students to visit the Kentucky State University Aquaculture Center-they had a great time learning about one of the many extensions of agriculture, farming in water! They also got to tour the KSU campus!





CONGRATULATIONS to GCHS Senior, Jade Pevley, on winning 1st Place in the JAG Employability Skills state competition-Jade submitted a resume, cover letter and participated in an interview for the competition, competing against several other KY JAG students. With her 1st Place accomplishment, Jade will advance to the national level! 🥇

GCHS Biomed and AP Bio students got to participate in population sampling as they used PIT-tags to identify previous populations for the University of Kentucky Plant Pathology Department at Maywoods this week!🌱🌿🍃

This afternoon, the GMS Cougar Baseball team and coaching staff was recognized and honored during the 2022 Regular Session of the KY General Assembly for their extraordinary performance last season- as they were the first team to bring home a Conference Championship title!⚾
Representative David R. Meade and Representative Josh Bray joined in congratulating this team and extended them best wishes for many future monuments of success!

Mrs. Weaver's 9th Grade Integrated Science classes collaborated with Gear Up to design and build hot air balloons while studying the atmosphere. Students learned about air currents, parts of the atmosphere, density, and how to conduct atmospheric research!
