On behalf of the Garrard County Board of Education, the Garrard County Local Planning Committee will convene a meeting and public forum to develop the proposed District Facilities Plan. The meeting will be held on May 8, 2023, at the Garrard Education Center at 6:15 PM local time. This meeting will be for the purpose of discussing items concerning the District Facilities Plan. CKEC Chief Executive Officer, Mr. David Young, visited Garrard County this week to speak with CDR Principal Lesley Lawson and CDR Principal Kia Lamb for an EdVantage podcast episode recording. Mrs. Lawson and Mrs. Lamb discussed real-world tips for principals. They share some great stories and lessons learned that are good for principals and for district administrators!

Garrard County High School recently hosted their Ghost Out Program. A guest, dressed as the Grim Reaper, stalked the hallways of the Garrard County High School and selected fourteen “victims”. These “victims” represented the average number of people killed in alcohol or drug-related crashes during the school day and were declared “deceased”. A memorial service was conducted for the fourteen “victims” during the afternoon assembly, with the students of GCHS in attendance.
Thank you to our Garrard County Youth Services Center, Garrard County, Davis Shepherd, ASAP (Agency Substance Abuse Policy), MADD (Mother Against Drunk Drives), GCHS TATU Club (Teens Against Tobacco Use), Garrard County Coroner’s Office, Garrard County Sheriff’s Office, Lancaster Police Department, Kentucky Office of Highway Safety and First Responders for working together to address drug and alcohol abuse among our young people today. #gcsproud
