Congratulations to Mr. Jerry Martin for being recognized as the Garrard County Schools Teacher of the Month sponsored by Whitaker Bank! #cdrproud #gcsproud
Mr. Jerry Martin has taught Construction Carpentry at the Garrard ATC since 2019. Mr. Martin began his career in construction in 2001, working as a skilled carpenter and eventually branching out on his own with his home improvement business. When asked about his pathways, Mr. Martin says, "Construction skills are something that will always be needed. Even if the students do not work in this field post-high school, the skills that they acquire will always serve them well." Mr. Martin and his classes have been involved in many projects for Garrard County Schools and the community. A few examples include: his classes built a storage building and trophy shelves for Camp Dick Elementary, completed repairs to the GMS field house, rebuilt the mobile fire training house for Garrard Fire District 1, and built a display case for Whole Latte Love coffee shop. In addition to his construction and education vocations Mr. Martin has been in the ministry as a youth pastor and he also serves as Chaplain for the LCHS football team. We are very grateful to have Mr. Martin as our Construction Carpentry instructor at Garrard ATC.
